SHOP THE DESIGN
Upstate New York’s Rose Hill Farm, a historic orchard and winery/cidery,
was close to opening a new dining space when the pandemic hit. In a quick pivot,
the owners refocused their resources on an outdoor seating area. When they were
ready to finally welcome guests inside the barn, we wanted to help.
"I've never been so exited for a reveal. Every once in a while I get a project
that reminds me of why I started doing design, and this is one of them."
— MICHEL SMITH BOYD
Michel Smith Boyd is the founder and
creator of SMITHBOYD Interiors, a boutique
firm specializing in luxury residential and
commercial projects nationwide.
“The fact that Crate & Barrel was thinking about how the
pandemic affected small businesses made me feel seen. I AM
that small business. So of course I wanted to be a part of this.”
- MICHEL SMITH BOYD
THE DESIGN CHALLENGE
The farm’s 1920s barn had been architecturally modernized and
was an empty, wide open space with a lot of hard surfaces. Rose Hill’s
owners wanted it to become a cozy place to dine and lounge.
