Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup hibiscus blossoms
- 2 inch piece of ginger
- 1 bunch Thai basil or opal basil
- 2 ounces agave syrup
- Juice of 2 limes (about ½ cup)
- 1 pound fruits, sliced: 1 lemon, 1 lime, 1 orange, 1 blood orange, 1 cup frozen cranberries, 1 cup frozen grapes, 1 cup cherries
- Ice
- 2 bottles ginger beer
- Smoky mezcal such as Vida or Madre (optional)
Directions
- Combine water, hibiscus and ginger in a medium pot. Simmer for 20 minutes. Add 4 sprigs of basil. Let cool and strain. Add agave syrup and lime juice.
- Pour into a punch bowl and add fruit. Add ice and ginger beer. You can add extra agave syrup for more sweetness, and refresh the effervescence over time with more ginger beer.
- Add 2 to 3 ounces of mezcal to spike up this easy Halloween punch, if desired.
- Ladle the hibiscus punch into glasses, add basil sprig to garnish.
