PREP:
20 minutes
GRILL:
5-8 minutes
YIELD:
6 burgers
Ingredients
- Burger Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon yellow onion, minced
- 1½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 6 brioche hamburger buns
- Unsalted butter, room temperature
- Optional toppings: Shredded or sliced cheese, iceberg lettuce, sliced red onion, heirloom tomatoes, sliced dill pickle chips
- Sauce Ingredients
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Directions
- For the sauce, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, vinegar and sugar in a medium bowl and stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate.
- To prep buns and toppings, slice and butter the brioche buns; set aside until ready to grill. Shred lettuce and slice onions and tomatoes. Place all toppings on a platter.
- To make burgers, preheat grill to medium-high heat. Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl and top with Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Lightly combine all ingredients; don't over-mix the meat.
- Divide the meat mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into patties about the size of the buns you'll be using. Place the patties on the grill over direct heat and cook until done to your liking (medium-rare will take about 5 minutes, flip halfway. Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking). If you want a cheeseburger, place cheese directly on the patty to melt during the last minute of cooking.(Note: This is also the time to add the buttered buns to the grill, over indirect heat.)
- Remove burgers and buns to a serving platter. Serve hot with Special Sauce and your favorite toppings.
