surface. With the flat side down, slice horizontally (1 or 2
times), stopping before the root.

Vertical. Hold the onion with your fingertips to keep it
secure, then make small vertical cuts all the way across the
top of the onion.

Straight Down. Turn the onion counter-clockwise, then
slice straight down across your cuts to create diced pieces.
