Hard Cheese Knives
Pair Your Cheese Board with a Hard Cheese Knife
Planning a cheese and wine pairing party or a dinner party that starts with appetizers? Remember to include a pointed hard cheese knife to cut hard cheeses such as parmesan and aged cheddar. A set of cheese knives will also typically include a rectangular knife for soft cheeses and a broad knife for everything else. For modern flair, consider a cheese knife with a metallic handle made of an industrial metal, such as copper, nickel or stainless steel. If you have a more traditional touch, opt for handles made from wood or marble instead. Carry your decor theme into your appetizer serveware or mix materials for a different look. For instance, separate cheese offerings on marble, slate, wooden or ceramic cheese boards on the kitchen island. Then, consider labeling cheese markers for your guests’ convenience. Round out your display with an iron or wood platter for charcuterie or small decorative bowls that contain fig preserves and olives. To add height and variety to your cheese display, try a multi-tiered serving tray for crackers, nuts and hot appetizers or a marble pedestal bowl filled filled with pears and grapes for a pop of color. Set out appetizer plates, wine glasses and a wine decanter on a decorative tray and consider coasters to protect your furniture. Finish the look with a statement-making vase filled with botanicals or fresh herb sprigs and a set of taper candlesticks in alternating height.
