How to set up a stylish small living room with great flow:
• Use two statement pieces to anchor a small living room. While small spaces require size-appropriate furniture that doesn’t mean small-space furniture has to be wimpy. Instead of non-descript pieces that create clutter, anchor your room with two statement pieces: a sofa you love (it’s the focal point of your room and the place you lounge, so it needs to be fabulous) and a space-defining rug, which also adds warmth and texture.
• Embrace curves. Take a look at the sofa, tables, decor and pendant lamp. One thing they all have in common? They’re curvy! While hard lines can make a small room feel boxy, curves offer welcoming silhouettes and create an open, laid-back flow.
Bonus—Curved tables and decor are naturally sculptural, so they double as functional art.
• Use artwork and pendant lighting to visually extend the space. We love using pendant lighting and artwork (oversized artwork, especially) to draw the eye upward and visually open up the space.
• Mirrors = magic. It’s true! Mirrors reflect light, make narrow spaces appear wider and make small spaces feel bigger, i.e., the best kind of optical illusion.
How to set up an elegant and functional small dining room:
• Choose a color palette to tie your room together. For a polished look that doesn’t overwhelm this small dining space, we’ve used a simple palette of white, neutrals, and bold pops of black. A color story that repeats throughout the room is both visually pleasing and helps create unity.
• Add a dash of bold. Don’t be afraid to incorporate moments of drama, pattern or glam into a small space. A few bold pieces add visual interest and show off your style POV.
• Stylish dining storage, FTW. As all of us living in small spaces know, storage is everything. That’s why we absolutely love dining furniture and bar cabinets that have the superpower of deep (and hidden) storage without taking up a big footprint. It’s true that not all heroes wear capes.
