how to measure
furniture for delivery
Your new furniture needs to fit in your room—and through
the door! Here's how to measure furniture and compare to
your home’s dimensions for a smooth delivery.
measure your space
Use a metal tape measure to measure
the height (A) and width (B) of all doorways
and hallways from the entry point to the
room your new furniture will go in.
Don't forget to also measure
the entry point (C) itself.
measure the furniture
HOW TO MEASURE
A SOFA OR SECTIONAL
Simply measure the width (A-C) and
diagonal depth (B). To calculate diagonal
depth, use a metal measuring tape to
measure from the top left corner to the
bottom right (pillows not included).
HOW TO MEASURE
A BOOKCASE OR DRESSER
Simply measure the depth (B) and diagonal
height (A-C) at the widest point.
To find the diagonal height, use a metal
measuring tape to measure from the top left
corner to bottom right.
compare the two measurements
To find the best path for delivery, compare your
furniture measurements to the dimensions of your
hallways and doorways.
By doing this, you’ll be able to see whether the
furniture needs to come in at an angle or if it will fit
straight through.
Keep in mind that for sofas and sectionals, the
diagonal depth must be less than the width of the
doorway in order to fit.
Remember also to take ceilings, fixtures, interior walls,
stairwell banisters and turns into consideration.
