Let's start with the fabric, a custom plaid created specially for the Utility chair at a high-end mill using an Old World needlepoint technique for amazing texture. Constructed in Shinola's classic palette of ochre, blue and cream, the cotton-wool-blend fabric adds graphic contrast to the natural linen and leather-trimmed canvas that wraps the armrests and seat and back panels. Made of solid oak, the chair frame exhibits its thoughtful construction with exposed joinery visible in the ends of the dowel rods that pull through the legs as circles of end grain. Detailed with button-tufting and flange edges, the loose seat and snap-on back cushion add smart tailoring to the chair's bespoke look.
