summary
A classic cocktail gets a holiday twist with the addition of festive peppermint, both in the cocktail and around the rim of the glass. There is something very special and pretty about the addition of the cream so add just before serving. Peppermint Schnapps is also delicious in hot chocolate.
ingredients
- 2 ounces vodka
- 1 ounce Kahlua (or other coffee-flavored liquor)
- ½ ounce peppermint schnapps
- 1 ounce half and half
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped candy cane
- 2 tablespoons sugar
directions
- In a small bowl, stir together the candy cane and sugar and then pour onto a small plate. Dip the rim of a cocktail glass into a bowl of water. Then dip into the candy cane mixture to create a sugary rim on the glass.
- Add the vodka, Kahlua and schnapps to the glass and then fill with ice. Pour in the half and half and stir to combine. Serve at once.
notes
The best way to crush a candy cane is to pulverize it in a food processor or to put it into a plastic bag, seal it and gently beat it with a rolling pin.
You can use Kahlua, Bailey’s irish cream or Tia Maria in this recipe.
