summary
What could be more fun or festive than a batch of margaritas? The Ninja SLUSHi™ makes this even better by turning your margaritas into slushies. In a matter of minutes, this Margarita Slushie recipe makes perfect party drinks.
ingredients
- 4 ounces simple syrup
- 5 ½ ounces fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces Grand Marnier
- 4 ounces top-shelf tequila
- 2 ¾ cup cold water
directions
- In a large pitcher, stir together the simple syrup, lime juice, Grand Marnier, tequila and water. Transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours.
- Once chilled, pour this into the Ninja SLUSHi™ maker, turn the power button on and set to the “spiked slush” setting. This will take about 25 minutes to reach the ideal slush consistency and will keep at this temperature and consistency for up to 12 hours in the machine.
notes
For best results, serve in chilled Margarita glasses as this slushie has a loose consistency.
Chilling the liquid isn’t imperative but it will make the freezing time in the machine significantly faster.
Fresh lime juice will give you the best flavor.
Don’t be surprised by the amount of water in this Margarita Slushie recipe—it is necessary to allow the drink to freeze properly.
You can sub Triple Sec in for Grand Marnier.
Simple syrup is an equal mix of sugar and water cooked on the stove until the sugar dissolves. Cool completely before using.
Twist on a classic: for a spicy version, add chopped jalapeno to your simple syrup while it is cooking. Allow it to steep for 30 minutes and then strain. Please note: You can not put any solids into the Ninja Slushi.
Garnish options: coat the rim with salt or Tajin. Garnish with a lime wedge or a jalapeno if you are going the spicy route.
You can double this recipe but do not go above the max fill line of 64 ounces.
