Perfect for enjoying year-round, this iced brown sugar shaken espresso recipe is super fun because you use a cocktail shaker to make it feel extra festive. - ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup water
- 3 shots brewed espresso, cooled
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar simple syrup
- â…“ cup half-and-half, whole milk or milk alternative
- Ice, to shake and to serve
directions
- To make the simple syrup, place the brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Swirling the pan a few times, cook until the brown sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
- Fill a glass with ice and set aside. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the espresso and brown sugar simple syrup. Shake vigorously until the drink is ice cold, about 15 seconds. Pour the brown sugar shaken espresso into the glass over the ice. Add the half-and-half and serve at once.

You can easily make a larger batch of the simple syrup if you are serving a crowd.
Simple syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one month.
You can make this iced brown sugar shaken espresso recipe vanilla flavored by adding 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the simple syrup.
Adjust the amount of simple syrup based on how sweet you like your drink.
If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can use a mason jar with a tight-fitting lid.
