You’ve heard (or shared) the wonderful news–a baby is coming soon! Now, it’s time to organize a fall themed baby shower. Whether you’re the parents-to-be or a friend or family member who is going to host the party, planning a baby shower should be simple and fun. Plus, the fall season, with its rich colors and yummy seasonal food (pumpkin spice latte, anyone?), is a great time for a baby shower. Not sure where to get started? We will walk you through planning a fall themed baby shower.

Fall Baby Shower Basics
First things first, let’s set a date. There are a few things you should consider when picking out a day. Of course, if you are hosting the baby shower for the parents, gather the dates that they are available in the fall. Baby showers tend to be held on weekends so that that date doesn’t interfere with work and most guests will be able to attend. You also want to consider things that could affect the attendance–like holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc).
The location you choose could also play a part in what day the baby shower is. If you are looking to celebrate at a specific venue or restaurant (rather than in someone’s home) then you would need to check the availability of that location. The fall season also lends itself to great weather so other baby shower spots could be a park or garden, brewery, or barn–get creative!

Fall Baby Shower Themes
Before you go too far into planning, you want to set the theme–and a fall themed baby shower lends itself to plenty of options. When you think of fall you think of woodland creatures, pumpkins, apples, football, Halloween, and Thanksgiving (among other things)–and all of these make great fall themed baby shower ideas. For a look that is more simple but still as stunning, you could play with the fall colors. The beautiful changing leaves with their reds, oranges, and yellows would make a pretty shower theme.
Once you pick a baby shower idea, the next step is to select fall baby shower invitations–you could send out either a digital invitation or printed one. The baby shower invitations give guests all the details for the day along with the baby registry information for gift buying.

Fall Baby Shower Food Ideas
Now, it’s time to set the menu. Most showers are held in the morning or afternoon so brunch or lunch is traditionally what is served. For a morning shower (or one that starts before noon), we love the idea of a brunch buffet with plenty of finger foods. Think of lighter bites like fruit cups, mini quiches and tarts, french toast bites, charcuterie board or breakfast board (think mini pancakes, waffles, bacon, fruit and nuts). Plus, refreshing smoothies and pumpkin spice lattes to sip on.
For a lunch menu, our favorite fall baby shower food ideas are seasonal like a delicious butternut squash mac & cheese, fall flavor-filled quinoa & cherry stuffed acorn squash, or a crisp tricolore salad with cranberry vinaigrette. When it comes to drinks and desert, serve up a spiced hot apple cider and one of these mouth-watering apple-based desserts.

Fall Baby Shower Games
Looking to add extra fun to the baby shower? Play a game or two. There are plenty of traditional baby shower games like Diaper Raffle or Gift Bingo that guests will enjoy. You could give these games a seasonal spin by printing on paper that matches your theme, buying diapers with a fall print on them or giving the winner of Gift Bingo a small fall-centric prize.
Another baby shower idea that can take the place of a game is a fun activity like decorating a onesie for the new baby. You can buy a bunch of plain white onesies and let guests get creative by decorating in a fall theme for the new baby.

Fall Baby Shower Favors
The final touch of the day is a favor to give the guest as a small way of saying “thank you” for coming to celebrate the parents-to-be. Favors shouldn’t cost too much. We like the idea of giving a gift under $25. Did you pick a Halloween theme? We are loving these smaller Halloween decor items. Still not sure what to give for fall baby shower favors? A great go-to baby shower favor is a scented candle. You could give the same scent to everyone who attend or pick a few out and let the guests select one as they leave.
