It’s (going to be) a boy! Now, it’s time for the fun part—planning a boy baby shower. And while knowing the gender is very exciting, don’t let that limit your ideas when it comes to planning this fun party. The most important part is showering the parents-to-be with lots of love during this wonderful time in their lives.

Basics of a Baby Boy Shower
Let’s start with the basics, which actually don’t have much to do with gender. First, select who will be hosting the shower. It could be grandparents, family, friends or whoever would like to. Next, comes setting a budget for the baby shower. You can really plan a beautiful shower for any price. If you need to be a bit more price conscious, you can host the shower in a home, make the food yourself, send out digital invitations, etc. If you have a bit more to spend, the shower can be held at a restaurant or event space, you can have it catered, send out printed invitations, etc.
You will also need to set the date for the shower. A good rule of thumb is to hold the shower at least 2-3 months before the due date. That way, the parents will have time to assemble any gifts they receive at the shower, wash the clothing and get everything ready before the baby comes (or in case he comes early!). Which brings us to the registry, which is essential for the shower. Make sure the parents have registered for the gifts that they would like to receive so that you are able to send the registry information along to guests.

Baby Boy Shower Themes
When it comes to themes, let your imagination go! There are really no right or wrong themes for a baby boy shower. You could think of one that reflects what the parents-to-be enjoy like their favorite sports team or vacation spot, or the time of year like a cozy up winter theme or lazy days of summer one. Some of our favorite themes include colorcentric ideas like a pastel theme or using one element to tie it all together like stripes.
We are also big fans of a book theme, where each table represents a classic children’s book. Plus, a cute animal-inspired party, cars and trucks theme, outer space event, great outdoors shower, or dinosaur baby shower bash are always crowd pleasers.

Baby Boy Shower Invitations
Once you’ve picked a shower theme, the next step is to select the invitations—you could send out either a digital invitation or printed one. The baby shower invitations should match the theme that you have chosen and give all the details for the day along with the baby registry information for gift buying. Make sure to send out the invitations 6-8 weeks before the event so that guests have plenty of time to plan and buy.

Baby Shower Decorations for Boys
When it comes to setting up for the baby shower, the decorations are where the fun comes in! Use the theme that you have selected to pick out some things to dress up the space or room where the shower will be held. We love using colored or patterned balloons, flowers for the table centerpieces, garland or banners to hang and tableware to bring the theme to life.

Baby Shower Food Ideas for Boys
Getting hungry? The fun doesn’t have to stop with the decorations. Great food ideas will keep guests happy. We like creative ways to incorporate the baby theme into the food you’re serving. For example, if you are having a shower during brunch time, whip up this delicious Cinnamon Sugar Dutch Baby recipe or Blueberry Buttermilk Quick Bread recipe for something sweet to snack on. We also love this Blueberry Puffed Pancake recipe. Looking for something bitesize? These Apple Spice Mini Bundts are a smaller treat that pairs perfectly with your coffee or tea service.

Baby Shower Gift Ideas for Boys
When it comes to baby shower gift ideas, the best place to start is the parent’s registry (that’s why it is so important to include the registry info on the invitation). The registry outlines the items that they need for the baby. If you would like to purchase a larger item for the baby, you can go in with other guests to purchase it together.
What are some additional ideas that everyone loves? You really can’t go wrong with baby bedding. It is nice to have multiple soft, organic sheets for the crib. Another sweet idea is a stuffed animal that they can cuddle with as they get older. You can also never go wrong with a book. Babies love to be read to so the more book options, the better. You could even pair the sheets, stuffed animal, and book together to make a cute little sleepytime bundle. Plus, if you know babies, you know mess. So a bunch of cute bibs (because they’ll use them daily!) make a greatly appreciated gift.
